Annual General Meeting — March 2026
Your village, your say

The Flackwell Heath Residents' Association held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 4 March 2026 at The Three Horseshoes pub, with members gathering from 7.30pm to hear updates from the committee and have their say on the year ahead.

The evening opened with a summary of 2024/25, followed by officer reports covering the full range of FHRA activities — from Heath Fest and the Christmas lights to the monthly market, litterpicks, FlackWild Heath, the Repair Cafe, Youth Club, Community Speedwatch, and more. The treasurer presented the annual accounts, giving members a clear picture of how their subscriptions had been put to work across the village.

The headline item of the evening was a special resolution proposing the conversion of the FHRA from an unincorporated association to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). The Executive Committee explained that as the charity's activities have grown, individual committee members have increasingly found themselves personally liable for contracts and obligations entered into on the FHRA's behalf. Incorporation as a CIO would give the charity its own legal identity and provide trustees with the protection of limited liability.

The resolution required a two-thirds majority of members present to pass, after which the Executive Committee would proceed with an application to the Charity Commission to register the new CIO and transfer all assets, liabilities, and activities across.

The committee thanked everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion.
