FlackWild Heath
From wildflower patches and pollinator-friendly planting to bug hotels and un-mown verges, the idea is simple: every small space counts.
FlackWild Heath
Flackwell Heath isn't just a great place for people — it can be a great place for wildlife too.
FlackWild Heath is an FHRA initiative led by our chairperson Larisa Townsend, working to create and maintain small pockets of plant and insect habitat across the village. From wildflower patches and pollinator-friendly planting to bug hotels and un-mown verges, the idea is simple: every small space counts.
Insects and native plants have lost enormous amounts of habitat over recent decades. Villages like ours can make a genuine difference — not by overhauling everything, but by making thoughtful choices in the spaces we already manage. A patch of wildflowers by a path. A hedgerow left a little longer. A corner of a green space given back to nature.
FlackWild Heath identifies suitable spots around the village, works with landowners and the parish council to get permission, and then gets planting.
